Ghosts!

In most cases there is no need to be afraid of ghosts. Hollywood has not depicted ghosts realistically. Most of us will never be terrorized by one, nor will most of us be lucky enough to actually see one. However, you don't have to see one to encounter one! A ghost (spirit, anomaly), is the personality of a person who has passed on. Some reasons a spirit may stay behind may be due to unfinished business, some tragedy, to look over loved ones or simply because it cannot accept it's death. There are many reasons and there are many types of hauntings. Only some of them are listed below. However, keep in mind that more often than not there is a natural explanation.

POLTERGEISTS

It is believed that many cases of Poltergeist type activity are actually not caused by "angry ghosts" at all. Fires, objects being thrown, bodily harm....these types of occurrences have been explained as being caused by angry ghosts in the past. Now there is evidence that quite often these types of phenomena are actually caused unknowingly by a member of the household, usually being a young female. It is thought that extra stored energy can naturally unleash itself without any intent or knowledge from the source (human). Scientists say that adolescent females are usually the source because females are more sensitive. Other sources could be a person who is suffering from Depression, anger, worry, or is hyperactive. These are just some common examples. Often, when the source is removed from the area where the occurrences have taken place activity ceases in that area. It then follows the source, occurring now in the area where the source has relocated. When the source returns home, the activity returns to the home.

INTELLIGENT HAUNTINGS

This type of ghost is aware of your presence and interacts with you. It is much less common than Residual Hauntings.

RESIDUAL HAUNTINGS

Residual hauntings are often confused with intelligent hauntings. As I said above, intelligent ghosts are aware of your presence and interact with you. However, residual hauntings are occurrences that seem to be like clips of film played over and over again through time. They get more and more faded, less potent each time. It is believed that certain high-energy moments are naturally recorded. These recordings are then "set off" from time to time. In Great Britain some scientists think that some of the types of stones in castles are able to record energy naturally and then somehow replay them under certain natural conditions (like weather). Castle stones are obviously not the only key to residual hauntings as this kind of phenomena occurs all over the world and at many different types of locations.
